*also i found out that if you jump on the first possible frame after the cdash and get an airwalk, your jump will be lower because the part of the jump where your speed is constant is exactly 1f shorter, and that causes it to be impossible to get the jump unless you do a 0f frame repress, and in that case you only have a 1f window to do it and not get an airwalk jump and its 1f after the apex of your jump, using the definition fo the apex above
**putting this here bc i ran out of characters in the post above but this pretty much applies to the last 2f on each extreme of the frame windows so its more like 4f shorter in practice
ok i cooked cursed jump and heres the result on how long of a frame window you can do the wings based on how short of a repress you do:
0f repress: 10f;
1f repress: 9f;
2f repress: 6f;
3f repress: 4f;
4f repress: impossible;
this is all assuming you didnt get an airwalk after the cdash*
as a refence for the cue, the last possible frame of the wings input is the same for all of them and is exactly 3-4f after the apex of the jump depending on how you define the apex, i define it as the last frame where the speed is positive so 4f, the frame window to wj after depends both on the repress and when you pressed wings so i cant think of a rule to figure it out(not that it really matters too much), generally you want to avoid the extremes of the frame windows and you want to avoid 2-3f represses cause those made it really hard to get the wj in TAS(i had to change where i turned around to make sure i didnt lose too much height cause of out tight it got), i think that if you get a 3f repress its pretty much impossible to get the wj with any amount of consistency, and with a 2f you probably only have a 1-2f** window where its reasonable, tho these are just guesses cause i didnt lab too much the insides of the frame windows
translating all of this into something useful inputs-wise, you want to press wings at the apex of your jump but later is better than early, tho you dont wanna be too far off on either direction, and you want a near perfect repress otherwise its very hard to get the wj afterwards, from experience doing a ninsta as the wj didnt significantly impact the difficulty of the trick
reminder that a 0 frame repress is when there are no physics frames where the game register no press, but you still unpressed during a graphics frame so it will register a repress, its basically the faster repress possible in the game and for humans its effectively impossible to get it 100% of the time because we cant see when a physics frame starts
